On Top of Old Smoky is a grand lodge in one of the highest locations in the area. The views from this mountain top location can’t be beat and seclusion is an understatement. It has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, 2 fireplaces, (one wood and one gas) and three porches to enjoy the view (one is screened). The entry is thru the "Great Hall" that is centered by a pool table and also features seating next to one of the 2 fireplaces. You will also enjoy the full kitchen, dining area and living room with the wood burning fireplace. When you stay at On Top of Old Smoky, you will understand its name. The peacefulness of this mountain view can’t be described, just experienced!

Any time of the year, you will be thrilled with the view from the deck of this fabulous mountain retreat!

An old saying: "To reach the top of the mountain, you have to go uphill." On Top of Old Smoky is on a mountain that was once only reachable by a hiking trail (that still exists!). However a few years ago a path for "motorcars" was forged up the mountain. It’s no freeway, but now allows capable drivers with capable vehicles to access the cabin, but flatlanders with basic vehicles might find it difficult. All Wheel Drive or 4WD vehicle required. Although remote, the mountain top location has great cell phone service, satellite TV and free wireless internet!

For outdoor activities, you are midway between the best whitewater rafting in the east on the Nantahala River, the beauty of the Appalachian Trail and the most visited National Park in the country, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Anytime of the day, the beautiful North Carolina mountain view is just outside your windows.

On Top of Old Smoky sleeps 6, is not pet friendly and is available year round.
